On site, it was demonstrated how biogenic CO₂ is permanently bound in mineral demolition materials. The treated material is then returned to the building material cycle and used in recycled concrete.
A live demonstration brought the entire process to life – from delivery of the untreated material to its introduction into the plant, followed by an explanation of the subsequent treatment process. In addition, people were allowed to compare the untreated and CO₂-sequestered concrete rubble by sight and touch. Visually there are no discernible differences, but the difference in environmental impact is key.
The personal exchange on site and networking opportunities further enriched the event. This is because the interaction of different players fills an important role in further developing circular solutions in construction and strengthening their climatic impact.
