Last Tuesday, the Volkshaus Basel once again opened its doors for our annual KIBECO Talk. After a pleasant start with coffee and croissants, the morning began with the motto «Reduction with vision: standards revolution as the key to lower CO₂ emissions.»

The event was opened by Prof. Barbara Sintzel, Head of the Institute for Sustainability in Construction at the FHNW Campus Muttenz, with a short but important presentation on the future of the construction industry.
Afterwards, our speakers Christian Herbst, Chairman of the UAG Committee annex ND; Wolfram Kübler, partner and member of the Executive Board at WaltGalmarini AG; Martin Bodmer, Lead Commercial and Operation at Oxara; and Mario Kapferer, Regional Manager East at SIKA Switzerland Ltd, provided valuable insights into their expertise and the potential of annex ND for sustainable concrete construction.
The ensuing panel discussion, moderated by Karin Frei, was followed by a lively Q&A session in which the audience also actively participated. Despite some disagreements, everyone agreed that real progress can only be achieved through collaboration. «We can only make progress if we get all the players on board and talk about the needs and challenges,» was the conclusion of the discussion.
The successful morning was then rounded off with a flying lunch, during which further discussions and networking took place.
