The last two editions of our KIBECO Talk in June 2022 and 2023 showed that the will to use sustainable and new building materials and to develop innovative building concepts is becoming increasingly important in the construction industry.
In our third KIBECO Talk, we therefore want to address a product that has been around for a long time: wood. While it is often assumed that wood is the only material for sustainable building, we would like to highlight the many ways in which concrete and wood together can contribute to creating climate-friendly and ecologically responsible structures.
The use of concrete and wood in construction projects offers a variety of advantages: concrete is known for its strength, durability and fire resistance, while wood is a natural resource that is renewable, easy to work with and aesthetically appealing. By combining these two materials, we can create innovative and sustainable structures that meet the needs of today’s society.
This year’s KIBECO Talk emphasises the collaboration between two different materials. Wood, as a renewable raw material, and concrete, as a versatile building material, can together contribute to the creation of environmentally friendly buildings. The aim is to create a balanced exchange between the stakeholders.
